THE OPPORTUNITY THAT AWAITS YOU
We are seeking an immediately available/short notice, experienced AWS Database Administrator (Intermediate to Senior) to support an international client in managing and optimising their data infrastructure.
The role will focus on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, optimising cloud-based data solutions, and ensuring high performance and reliability across systems.
You will play a key role in supporting data operations roadmap, leveraging AWS technologies to deliver robust, efficient, and secure solutions.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage, monitor, and optimise database workloads for efficiency and performance.
- Implement query/workload management strategies across large datasets.
- Conduct performance tuning, indexing, and capacity planning.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability across systems.
- Manage disaster recovery, backup, and restoration processes.
- Troubleshoot and recover corrupted or lost data when required.
- Lead and execute the migration of databases to Amazon Redshift Serverless.
- Design, test, and implement database migration strategies with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with data engineers and cloud architects to optimise pipelines and integrations.
- Implement and maintain database security policies and user access controls.
- Ensure compliance with international data standards and client-specific requirements.
- Work closely with application teams, data engineers, and stakeholders to support business needs.
- Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in a timely manner.
OUR REQUIRED EXPERTISE
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments (5+ years).
- Strong background in cloud database platforms (AWS Redshift, RDS, Aurora, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with migration projects to Amazon Redshift (ideally Serverless).
- Proficiency in workload management, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery, replication, and high-availability setups.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and collaboration with Data Engineers.
- Solid understanding of security, compliance, and role-based access control.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with international clients and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with multi-region or international deployments. (Nice to have)
- Knowledge of Python or scripting languages for automation. (Nice to have)
- Exposure to data governance and quality frameworks. (Nice to have)
