About the Role We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support an international client in managing and optimising their data infrastructure. The role will focus on workload management, performance tuning, cloud migration, and ensuring high availability of mission-critical systems. You will play a key role in migrating workloads to Amazon Redshift Serverless and ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the database environment.
Key Responsibilities Database Administration & Optimisation Manage, monitor, and optimise database workloads for efficiency and performance. Implement query/workload management strategies across large datasets. Conduct performance tuning, indexing, and capacity planning. Data Integrity & Recovery Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability across systems. Manage disaster recovery, backup, and restoration processes. Troubleshoot and recover corrupted or lost data when required. Migration & Cloud Integration Lead and execute the migration of databases to Amazon Redshift Serverless. Design, test, and implement database migration strategies with minimal downtime. Collaborate with data engineers and cloud architects to optimise pipelines and integrations. Security & Compliance Implement and maintain database security policies and user access controls. Ensure compliance with international data standards and client-specific requirements. Collaboration & Support Work closely with application teams, data engineers, and stakeholders to support business needs. Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams. Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments (5+ years). Strong background in cloud database platforms (AWS Redshift, RDS, Aurora, or similar). Hands-on experience with migration projects to Amazon Redshift (ideally Serverless). Proficiency in workload management, query optimisation, and performance tuning. Strong knowledge of backup/recovery, replication, and high-availability setups. Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and collaboration with Data Engineers. Solid understanding of security, compliance, and role-based access control. Excellent communication skills to engage with international clients and cross-functional teams. Nice to Have Experience with multi-region or international deployments.
