Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Architecture

● Contribute to the design and development of scalable web/app applications for payments and settlements.

● Build and maintain APIs that support core business functions such as payment processing, KYC/AML, and partner integrations.

● Participate in code reviews and help improve performance, security, and reliability across the stack.

Integrations

● Support integrations with payment gateways, banks, and third-party services (e.g., compliance and blockchain partners).

● Assist in building internal tools for operations, reconciliation, and reporting

Security & Compliance

● Follow secure coding practices and ensure adherence to internal security guidelines.

● Collaborate with compliance teams to implement KYC, AML, and transaction monitoring features.

● Learn and apply best practices related to data privacy and platform security.

Collaboration & Growth

● Work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and operations teams to deliver new features and enhancements.

● Take initiative in learning new technologies and improving existing systems.

● Contribute to a culture of quality and collaboration within the engineering team.

Skills & Experience

Must-Have

● Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.

● 1-4 years’ experience as a Full Stack Engineer (preferably in fintech or payments). ● Solid backend development experience using Node.js and/or TypeScript (experience with Python or

Java a plus).

● Frontend experience with modern frameworks such as React.js or Vue.js.

● Familiarity with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.

● API development experience (REST, GraphQL).

● Basic understanding of security best practices, data handling, and encryption concepts.

● Experience with version control (Git) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker).

● Enthusiasm for learning about blockchain, Web3 APIs, and emerging payment technologies.

Nice-to-Have

● Exposure to the African payments ecosystem, mobile money, or local payment APIs.

● Knowledge of blockchain fundamentals and working with Web3 APIs or SDKs.

● Interest or experience in FX, liquidity, or remittance platforms.

● Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

● Understanding of Stablecoin or blockchain-based settlement flows.

● Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Architecture

● Design and develop scalable platforms, web applications for payments and settlement.

● Build and maintain secure, high-performance APIs for payment processing, KYC/AML, and partner integrations.

● Implement custody solutions and blockchain integrations for stablecoin transfers (e.g., USDC, USDT).

Integrations

● Integrate with payment gateways, banks, blockchain nodes, liquidity providers, and compliance services (e.g., Sumsub, Chainalysis).

● Build internal tools for operations, reconciliation, and risk monitoring.

Security & Compliance

● Implement secure coding practices (OWASP, PCI-DSS where applicable).

● Support compliance workflows (KYC, AML, transaction monitoring).

● Experience with SOC2 and/or ISO 27001 audits.

Collaboration & Leadership

● Work closely with Product, Compliance, and Ops to deliver features that meet business needs.

● Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.

Skills & Experience

Must-Have

● 5–10 years’ experience as a Full Stack Engineer (preferably in fintech or payments).

● Strong backend experience in Node.js, TypeScript, Java, or Python.

● Frontend experience in React.js and Vue.js.

● Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

● Strong API development experience (REST, GraphQL).

● Knowledge of blockchain fundamentals and working with Web3 APIs or SDKs.

● Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes.

● Solid understanding of security, encryption, and compliance in payments.

Role expectations:

Technical Standard Accountability

● Accountable for the technical standard and direction of the team and for the successful delivery of technology objectives OKRs and key performance indicators KPIs.

● Collaborate with the Tech Lead to uphold high technical standards, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and engineering strategy.

● Articulate the rationale behind technical decisions and maintain a detailed understanding of the team's prioritized technical work.

● Advocate for the prioritization of technical debt in collaboration with the Product Manager to ensure system robustness and longevity.

● Provide support for maintaining and attending to the team's technical roadmap.

Merchant & Stakeholder Management

● Serve as the lead technical advisor for merchants, assessing their technical requirements and landscape, thus guiding the sales team by strategically aligning Peach's technical solutions with customer needs.

● Lead technical discussions with stakeholders, partners, and merchants, serving as the primary technical point of contact during incidents and support queries.

● Develop and deliver training to up-skill Application Engineers, enabling them to handle more complex and technical support queries for the pods.

● Promote transparency and continuous improvement by ensuring the visibility of the team's technical KPIs to stakeholders and leadership.

Hands on Support

● Engage directly in the software development lifecycle by reviewing pull requests and guiding the deployment process in collaboration with the Tech Lead.

● Lead and engage in sprint ceremonies such as planning and refinement sessions by providing technical guidance on complex tasks and informed input on ticket estimations.

● Provide support to the Product Manager for better roadmap planning by providing technical insight, estimations and by running Technical Discovery on new tasks.

● Facilitate the decomposition of high-level ideas into actionable, high-value deliverables.

● Support the Tech Lead in mentoring and upskilling less-senior engineers, contributing to their technical development.

● Identify and mitigate risks that may impact delivery, quality and performance and develop associated contingency plans.

● Stay current with industry trends and best practices to drive relevant innovation within the team.

● Capable of stepping into the Tech Lead role when necessary.

Own the process

● Ensure work across the pod is balanced and reasonable. ● Promote transparency and continuous improvement by ensuring the visibility of

the team's velocity and predictability to stakeholders and leadership. ● Own people management responsibilities: performance management, hiring,

conflict resolution, providing feedback, mentoring, career mapping and coaching.

● Ensure the pod is adequately staffed for long-term health. ● Develop and maintain a succession plan for key roles within the pod to ensure

Competencies: What You Bring

Solid Technical expertise: You are an accomplished Software Engineer. You can confidently lead technical discussions, grow strong technical teams and set a good technical standard within your teams.

Strong people management experience: Timely candidate evaluations, run interview processes leading to positive candidate experience; participate in calibration, career conversations, performance review and salary adjustments.

Payments domain knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the steps of a transaction, knowledge of the technologies involved, the regulatory landscape, and the business drivers behind it all (customers, merchants, acquiring banks, etc..)

Competent in agile methodologies SCRUM beneficial): Use sprint metrics to drive efficiency and continuous improvement in delivery.
